Eight Ferraris brawl with a Prius on a Japanese highway
It apparently took eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini, and two Mercedes-Benzes to bring down one Prius on a Japanese freeway.Supercar crashes always fascinate us due to the forced disassembling of a very expensive piece of engineering, and some secret glee at observing the poor driving skills of the very wealthy. But this crash in Japan takes the cake, as it involved not one, but eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini, and two Mercedes-Benzes. Oh, and one poor Prius seems to have gotten caught up in the crash.According to reports, the drivers were convoying to a supercar meet-up, when the driver of a Ferrari F430 in the lead hit the median barrier, setting off a chain reaction among the following cars. Excessive speed was apparently a factor in the crash. No injuries were reported, and video shows deployed airbags in the cars along with primarily crumple zone damage. One black Ferrari F430 seems to have escaped harm. The Prius was hit from behind, its rear bumper removed. We like the detail of the Prius' side mirrors folded in the park position, which must be due to the driver calmly putting his car in park and turning off the ignition before exiting the vehicle.Surprisingly, no Ferrari Enzos, a staple of wrecked supercar stories, were involved.Click here for an in-depth analysis by Jalopnik of the crash.
